Charlotte Price - Character Interview - One Lucky Night

Welcome, everyone. It's been a while since I've don an interview. Today, I'm interviewing Charlotte Price, character from Grace Teague's novella, Lucky Star. First, check out the anthology Charlotte's story is contained in.

One Lucky Night by: Aria Kane, Grace Teague, Ana Blaze, Constance Phillips and Melinda Dozier

One night can change everything…
The crew at Boston’s Brazen Head Pub hasn’t been very lucky in love. Can a mysterious visitor inspire them to look past old hurts and misconceptions and give romance a chance? One Lucky Night is a collection of five sexy interwoven novelettes by Ana Blaze, Aria Kane, Melinda Dozier, Grace Teague and Constance Phillips.

I’m Grace Teague and my contribution to the anthology is a novella called Lucky Star.

Great to have you here, Grace. Tell us about your novella.

Lucky Star by Grace Teague

When her life is threatened by a mugger, Charlotte Price realizes she's in love with her best friend, Tommy Leung. The Brazen Head seems like the perfect neutral place to confess her feelings, but nothing goes according to plan.

Great, thanks for that. Now, let's get to the nitty gritty and the reason we are all here. Welcome to the blog, Charlotte Price. Let's start off with a little of your history. What was your life like growing up?

I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania and lived in a mostly suburban neighborhood. My parents split up when I was eight, but that wasn’t too bad. My dad used to terrify me as a kid because he was so critical of me, so I was happy to only spend three months out of the year with him.

Parents can definitely be tough on their kids. Sounds like you had it rough. Before your story began, what were your hopes for the future?

I wanted to get my P.H.D. in virology and work for the NIH. That’s the National Institutes of Health.

What changed that?

It didn’t really change. I mean, I’d still like to work for the NIH when I graduate.

Well, good luck with that. I hope it happens. Let's get to know the real you. How would you describe your personality?

Nerdy, I guess? I thought I was introverted for a while, but then I realized I was just conditioned from being picked on a lot as a kid. Now I’m actually kind of chatty in social situations, as long as I’ve had enough to drink and you want to talk about Joss Whedon.

Sounds like you are working out your issues. How would you describe your looks?

Okay. I have good hair that frames an average-looking face. I’m thin, which counts for way more than it should, but I don’t really work out.

I wish I could stay thin without working out. That's lucky. What are your greatest talents?

I’m really good at growth assays and playing pool.

What about the people in your life now? Who are your closest friends?

Tommy Leung is my best friend. A lot of the people I went to high school with have drifted out of my life, and I’m not really close to anyone at the lab where I work. It’s very competitive and we don’t have much time to socialize.

Sounds lonely. There has to be a few people you connect with. Who do you love?

My mom. Lynn Margulis. Tommy.

Okay, who do you hate, and why?

I don’t know. That guy who keeps contaminating my cells by putting his lunch in the virology fridge would be up there if I could hate somebody, but it’s not really in my nature. Hate is tiring and I’ve got enough to worry about.

That is true. Good attitude. What do you think is going to happen next in your life?

I don’t know. The exciting part is the discovery.

Too true! Well, I really appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me. Good luck in your future. I'm looking forward to reading your story!

Character Interview - Zara from Jade Kerrion's Double Helix Series

Double Helix series 4

Today, on our character interview, we're pleased to welcome Zara Itani, from the seven-time award-winning Double Helix series. Her author, Jade Kerrion, has insisted on sitting in on the interview. It's not quite the norm, but we've agreed to Jade's request. Let's start with some easy questions, Zara. How did you first meet Jade Kerrion? Want to dish about her?

Zara: I think Jade was having a midlife crisis when we met. She was growing older, and realized that she was going to live out her life in the frantic corporate rat race of America, while being a mom with husband, two kids, and a mini van. She probably felt that she needed to live vicariously through someone else, namely me.

Jade: I am not having a midlife crisis!

Did you ever think that your life would end up being in a book?

Zara: I'm a mercenary, and I own an agency of mercenaries. No, I do not crave the spotlight or expect to make headlines, at least not with my name in print next to my unfortunate victims. Jade, however, appears to be a strong proponent of full disclosure. It's amazing, though how her novels are full of people who never disclose anything to anyone else, and she decided to get my name out there.

Tell us about your favorite scene in the Double Helix series.

Zara: My favorite scene from the first three books takes place in the second book, Perfect Betrayal. It's an intimate moment with Danyael Sabre. It's especially memorable because, if you know Danyael, then you know that Danyael doesn't do 'intimate' often. Danyael, of course, swears the encounter never took place. He's lying, of course. We have a daughter and five genetic tests to prove it. (smiles) Of course, I have many favorite scenes in Jade's upcoming novel, Perfection Challenged. The closing scene is particularly memorable.

It sounds like you have a complicated relationship with Danyael. Tell the truth. What do you think of your fellow characters?

Zara (arching a perfectly tweezed eyebrow): They're charming, like black mambas are charming. Still, we've gone through a great deal together, and on a good day, I'd trust them, but not too much.

What do you like best about Danyael Sabre? What do you like least?

Zara: Do we have to talk about Danyael?

Well, your name is frequently mentioned in conjunction with his name and Galahad's. How do you choose between two men who look alike?

Zara: Danyael is Galahad's physical template, but in every other way that matters, they are nothing like each other. Galahad, the lab-created perfect human being, is eager and impatient to seize the world. On the other hand, Danyael, after a traumatic childhood as an undiagnosed alpha empath, wants nothing more than to be left alone to do his job as a doctor in a charity clinic. I used to think Danyael was evasive and a coward, unwilling to face his past or embrace his mutant powers. He isn't really. He's both courageous and compassionate, but most people don't see him for what he is.

And what about you? What impression do you make on people when they first meet you? How about after they've known you for a while?

Zara: Ideally, they'd know me as a practical, levelheaded person who isn't afraid of doing what it takes to get things done. After they've known me for a while, I hope they'll continue to say the same thing.

Jade (in a stage whisper): Ask her about that compassionate streak.

Zara (shrugs an elegant shoulder): Not there. It doesn't exist, and you can't prove it.

Ladies, please. Zara, what would Danyael say about you?

Zara (flashes an amused smile): Ah, he's much too polite to say anything, but if he did, I imagine he would say that I'm more abrasive than steel wool, and that I have a cruel and ruthless streak several miles wide. He wouldn't say anything about compassion.

Jade (scowling): He wouldn't have fallen in love with you otherwise.

Jade, if you don't mind, I'm interviewing Zara here. Zara, if your story were a movie, who would play you?

Zara: Kate Beckinsale would do a great job. She's beautiful, and she knows how to kick ass. She's not Lebanese-Venezuelan, but nobody's perfect.

Will you encourage your author to write a sequel?

Zara: She's already written four Double Helix novels, five, if you include the Young Adult spinoff, When the Silence Ends. She insists that Perfection Challenged is the end of the Double Helix series, but that's not to say that there aren't other stories to be told about the world of the Double Helix. Knowing her, she'll be back with another fascinating story about my world and the people who live in it.

What do you like to do when you are not being actively read somewhere?

Zara: You already know what I do for a living; I find ways to keep busy to pay the bills. I also have a two-year-old daughter, Laura. She's learning her alphabet by reading Dr. Seuss and gun catalogs.

Jade (pulls Zara to her feet and drags her away): I am so sorry. This is why I don't let my characters out unsupervised. I think they say stuff like that just to embarrass me.

Ah, okay, and that brings to an abrupt end our interview with Zara Itani today. Thank you for joining us for this character interview, and we hope you'll take the opportunity to get to know Zara better in the DOUBLE HELIX series.
'The best of the four booksÉthe perfect ending to an amazing series.'

An alpha empath, Danyael Sabre has survived abominations and super soldiers, terrorists and assassins, but he cannot survive his failing body. He wants only to live out his final days in peace, but life and the woman he loves, the assassin Zara Itani, have other plans for him.

Galahad, the perfect human being created by Pioneer Labs, is branded an international threat, and Danyael is appointed his jury, judge, and executioner. Danyael alone believes that Galahad can be the salvation that the world needs, but is the empath blinded by the fact that Galahad shares his genes, and the hope that there is something of him in Galahad?

In a desperate race against time and his own dying body, Danyael struggles to find fragments of good in the perfect human being, and comes to the wrenching realization that his greatest battle will be a battle for the heart of the man who hates him.

Character Interview with Rhonda Emerson from Enticed

Happy Friday, my friends! I know it's been a while since I posted an interview, but today I'm happy to invite over a character from Lynn Davis' newest erotic romance, Enticed. Rhonda Emerson is here to tell us a bit about her life and her story, but first, let's check out the cover and blurb!

Rhonda Emerson had the relationship she had wanted, an understanding man, good loyal friends and family that loved her. She just graduated from college and has the rest of her life unfolding before her. She lands a job with a highly sought after employer. Just when life seems to be going in the right direction for Rhonda, Miguel returns from Afghanistan and wants to tie up loose ends. Rhonda starts to feel things she thought were dead but how can she give in to her feelings for Miguel when she is engaged to be married to Roland?

When Roland laid his eyes on Rhonda, he was not confused...He had to had her in his life. He immediately takes matters into his own hands and in spite of her friends, he wins her heart. Now after three years of dating, she is ready to start a life with him only. The heart knows what the heart wants and Rhonda Emerson is the girl for him, but is he ready to challenge a bond from the past?

This is book one of the Rhonda Emerson Series

Thanks so much for being here, Rhonda. It's great to have you. So, tell me what your life was like growing up.

My life was pretty uneventful. I mean I had the standard life. Two parent home, two cars, a dog and siblings that got on my nerve but I would not be able to function without them. I love to read and always planned what my life would be like when I grew up. I guess I never lived in the moment. I thought love would be like the fairy tales prince charming would come and sweep me off my feet and I would then give up everything to start a life with him.

Before your story began, what were your hopes for the future?

Well, I think I was well on my way to becoming an independent woman. I had gotten a pretty good grade average in high school even though I had my up and downs with guys and other teenage angst. I was pretty level headed. My then boyfriend, Miguel and I were planning on going to college, graduating and then getting married and starting our careers. We had planned on starting our family after five years of being married.

What changed that?

Well, Miguel decided to follow his father and brothers into the military and serve his country. That decision caused him to break up with me. He could not bear if something happened to him and I was waiting for him to return. That devastated me. In my first year of college my whole world seemed to shatter.

That's rough... I think anyone suffering a breakup feels your pain. How would you describe your personality?

I am a bit of a work-a-holic. I tend to be more of a private person. My friends are always trying to get me to do things that most people my age do but I am an old soul. I tend to be more of a homebody.

How would you describe your looks?

I am pretty average, although Roland and Miguel will say that I am beautiful. I have Dark Brown eyes, black shoulder length hair that is thick to almost unmanageable. My dimples only show when I smile big. My almond shaped eyes are very expressive so I am told. I don’t have a poker face. You can read all my emotions and thoughts on it. I am 5’4 and curvy. Lol I don’t know how to describe myself. I am me.

What’s your greatest talents?

I can logically figure out any situation. Even though, this is something I do and do well, I tend to let my heart override what logic might be saying.

Who are your closest friends?

Darcy, Melinda and Melissa. We are all roommates. We met in College and seemed to gravitate towards each other. I guess you can say if you put us all together you would have the perfect woman. I don’t know what I would do without my friends, especially after Miguel broke my heart. Darcy and I seem to be closer out of the four of us. She really takes good care of me.

Melinda and Melissa are identical twins and they give the term good and evil validity.

Who do you love?

I love Miguel Sandoval. I am in a relationship with Roland Nichols.

Who do you hate, and why?

Hate is such a strong word. I really dislike Monica McKnight. She tends to be a busy body and has a burr up her butt when it comes to me and my happiness. Her lies, deception, and need to tell other people secrets have and will continue to wreak havoc in my life. Not so much in Enticed will she be a main part but as you read the series, Monica will stir up some pots. EWWW!!!!!! I can’t stand her.

What do you think is going to happen next?

Well in the first book of my series, I am struggling with my love for Roland and Miguel. Then in the next books you will see the back lash from my decisions. It’s going to get pretty messy to say the least. However by the end of the story… and I Lynn will try to write me into a deadly car accident for this…but there are some twist and turns so pay attention to small details. J shhh, that is our little secret. I can say that the ending will not be typical.

Wow! That sounds exciting but a bit scary! I guess we'll just have to wait to see what happens. I really appreciate you taking the time to meet with me today, and I wish you the best of luck in getting what you want out of life.

#Character Interview ~ Jennifer Cruz Jones from Broken Build by @AyalaRachelle

I'm here with Jennifer Cruz Jones, star of the exciting new romantic suspense, Broken Build, by Rachelle Ayala. Thanks for coming here today, Jen!

First off, I have to say that you look fantastic! How did you lose all that weight?
Jen Cruz Jones

Jen: It was hard, but I wanted to shed my past, and a lot of it had to do with unhealthy habits. I joined a gym and watched what I ate. But hanging around Dave is a hazard. He doesn’t know it yet, but I’m going to cut his Burger King allowance soon.

Oops, he’s not going to like it. I thought one of the reasons he was attracted to you was because you asked him to buy you a Whopper.

Jen: Whopper Jr. Ha, no worries. I’m not a control freak like Jocelyn, at least not until he says, “I do.”

Hmmm…. I hope he doesn’t read this interview.  I understand you work as an engineer for David Jewell's new software company.  He is one hunky man.  Want to tell us a little bit about him?

Jen: This is under nondisclosure, right? Actually, I don’t really want to talk about him other than he’s an awesome guy and he’s the boss.

I heard a rumor you and Dave have a connected past. Anything you want to say about that?

Jen: Definitely no comment. It was not one of the better moments in my life and I’m sure it’s all been rehashed in the gossip blogs already.

Darn the gossip blogs! Is there anything you want to set straight?

Jen: Yes, that I’d give my life if I could have a do-over.

Sounds pretty serious...

Well, moving right along - what is it you like about Dave so much?  What about him drives you nuts?

Jen: Still trying to get my opinions on Dave? You’re pretty persistent. But Dave is a better man than most people think. He’s got a soft heart and cares about the underdog. That’s why he spends time in the Big Brother program. He also finds it hard to say “no” and deny people requests, which sometimes gets him into trouble, especially since he is the CEO and has to make the hard calls. For example, the alarm company we contracted was not doing their job maintaining the equipment. Dave kept paying them and letting it slide because the owner was a disabled Vietnam veteran, a friend of his father. And of course, he felt guilty that his former roommate was not hired as lab manager. I mean, the guy showed up half-stoned at the interview. So Dave lends him his car to go job-hunting. But all this was not any of my business since I’m just the lowly build engineer.

Sounds like he's a pretty giving man and has a big heart. I can see how that would attract many women.  However, no matter how caring and giving a person is, sometimes it's hard to look past the really bad stuff. Do you think people can be forgiven for making a mistake that ends up destroying another person's life? Can you?

Jen: I’d like to be able to say “yes.” But it’s a tough one. If someone destroyed my life, particularly if it involves a family member, I’d want to hate them for the rest of their life. But part of healing and letting go is to forgive. I do hope my heart is big enough to forgive someone who ruined my life. But even if I forgive them, I might not want anything to do with them, you know what I mean?

Yes, I do. We should all strive to move past the bitterness of any times we've been wronged.

Tell us a bit more about you, Jen. What is it you really want? What's your fondest wish?

Jen: I’ve always wanted a big happy family, mother, father, kids, pets, a backyard, and family traditions that are handed down. I grew up with a single mother and a sister and felt like I was always on the outside looking in. I wanted to be surrounded by people who I love and who love me. My fondest wish is to someday be the great-grandmother and sit in a rocking chair in front of a fire smiling at a full house of adults, children, and pets while they enjoy each others’ company.

Sounds nice. I hope you get that wish. You’ve had to deal with a murder investigation, blackmail, kidnapping, extortion and still keep Dave’s company from folding. How did you keep your head together?

Jen: *laughs* I didn’t. But I had a goal to redeem myself and as long as I focused on what was really important, the rest seemed to blur by.

Sure was horrible and exciting at the same time. So, I know you are really good friends with Rachelle Ayala. Can you give us a hint about what she is doing now that she's not hanging around you and Dave anymore?

Jen: She’s onto a story possibly more emotionally wrenching than mine and Dave’s, although what went on with Dave was beyond what most people could have tolerated. I’m secretly cheering for her two lovers, Maryanne and Lucas, but they have a tough road ahead of them.

I look forward to hearing more about Maryanne and Lucas in the future.
