Charlotte Price - Character Interview - One Lucky Night

Welcome, everyone. It's been a while since I've don an interview. Today, I'm interviewing Charlotte Price, character from Grace Teague's novella, Lucky Star. First, check out the anthology Charlotte's story is contained in.

One Lucky Night by: Aria Kane, Grace Teague, Ana Blaze, Constance Phillips and Melinda Dozier

One night can change everything…
The crew at Boston’s Brazen Head Pub hasn’t been very lucky in love. Can a mysterious visitor inspire them to look past old hurts and misconceptions and give romance a chance? One Lucky Night is a collection of five sexy interwoven novelettes by Ana Blaze, Aria Kane, Melinda Dozier, Grace Teague and Constance Phillips.

I’m Grace Teague and my contribution to the anthology is a novella called Lucky Star

Great to have you here, Grace. Tell us about your novella.

Lucky Star by Grace Teague

When her life is threatened by a mugger, Charlotte Price realizes she's in love with her best friend, Tommy Leung. The Brazen Head seems like the perfect neutral place to confess her feelings, but nothing goes according to plan.

Great, thanks for that. Now, let's get to the nitty gritty and the reason we are all here. Welcome to the blog, Charlotte Price. Let's start off with a little of your history. What was your life like growing up?

I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania and lived in a mostly suburban neighborhood. My parents split up when I was eight, but that wasn’t too bad. My dad used to terrify me as a kid because he was so critical of me, so I was happy to only spend three months out of the year with him.

Parents can definitely be tough on their kids. Sounds like you had it rough. Before your story began, what were your hopes for the future?

I wanted to get my P.H.D. in virology and work for the NIH. That’s the National Institutes of Health.

What changed that?

It didn’t really change. I mean, I’d still like to work for the NIH when I graduate.

Well, good luck with that. I hope it happens. Let's get to know the real you. How would you describe your personality?

Nerdy, I guess? I thought I was introverted for a while, but then I realized I was just conditioned from being picked on a lot as a kid. Now I’m actually kind of chatty in social situations, as long as I’ve had enough to drink and you want to talk about Joss Whedon.

Sounds like you are working out your issues. How would you describe your looks?

Okay. I have good hair that frames an average-looking face. I’m thin, which counts for way more than it should, but I don’t really work out.

I wish I could stay thin without working out. That's lucky. What are your greatest talents?

I’m really good at growth assays and playing pool.

What about the people in your life now? Who are your closest friends?

Tommy Leung is my best friend. A lot of the people I went to high school with have drifted out of my life, and I’m not really close to anyone at the lab where I work. It’s very competitive and we don’t have much time to socialize.

Sounds lonely. There has to be a few people you connect with. Who do you love?

My mom. Lynn Margulis. Tommy.

Okay, who do you hate, and why?

I don’t know. That guy who keeps contaminating my cells by putting his lunch in the virology fridge would be up there if I could hate somebody, but it’s not really in my nature. Hate is tiring and I’ve got enough to worry about.

That is true. Good attitude. What do you think is going to happen next in your life?

I don’t know. The exciting part is the discovery.

Too true! Well, I really appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me. Good luck in your future. I'm looking forward to reading your story!
