#NewRelease ~ Eternal Night ~ Jade Kerrion
"What makes Kerrion’s writing so compelling is the beautifully flawed characters that find themselves in unexpected relationships...these kind of character level conflicts make Kerrion’s writing so deliciously addictive."—Noor A Jahangir, Author of The Changeling King
“Everything you want in a great story. Love, intrigue, action, betrayal, and understanding.”—Ch’kara Silverwolf, Author of Daughter of Light and Dark
Alone for a millennium, since a human murdered her beloved consort, Ashra, the immortal icrathari queen, rules over Aeternae Noctis, the domed city of eternal night. Her loneliness appears to be at an end when her consort’s soul is reborn in a human, Jaden Hunter, but their reunion will not be easy.
Icrathari are born, not made. If Ashra infuses Jaden with her immortal blood, he will be a vampire, a lesser creature of the night, a blood-drinker rather than a soul-drinker.
Furthermore, Jaden is sworn to protect his half-sister, five-year-old Khiarra. She is the child of prophecy, destined to end the eternal night and the dominion of the Night Terrors—the icrathari and the vampires.
As Ashra struggles to sustain her crumbling kingdom in the face of enemies without and treachery within, Jaden fights to defend his sister and unravel a greater mystery: what is the city of eternal night, and how did it come to be?

READ AN EXCERPT
With Tera beside her, Ashra strode forward. A wall of vampires parted to reveal the other two icrathari, Siri and Elsker. A dark-haired human slumped at Elsker’s feet, his wrists cuffed behind his back. Ashra stifled a chuckle. Surely Tera was overreacting; the human was by far the weakest creature in the chamber.Tera knelt down, wrapped her fingers into the human’s hair, and pulled his head back. The human’s face was handsome enough—the slash of his cheekbones accentuated his perfectly proportioned, sculptured features—but taken as a whole, he was not compelling enough to justify the fuss.
Ashra shrugged. “You’re wasting my time, Tera.”
Apparently undeterred, the icrathari warlord shook the human hard. His eyes flashed open. They were brilliant green, the exact color of the emerald ring Ashra wore on the index finger of her right hand. His gaze was unfocused, and the reflexive narrowing of his eyes matched the clenching of his jaw, hinting of wrenching pain.
Tera looked up and met Ashra’s gaze. “Taste his soul.”
Ashra recoiled, her upper lip curling in disgust. She had no desire to taste a human’s soul. Over the centuries, humans had grown weak, their small lives consumed by superstition and fear. It was better to live on the edge of perpetual starvation than fill her hunger with the pitiful excuse humans called a soul.
“Go deep,” Tera said.
But why? Ashra’s brow furrowed. She glanced at Siri and Elsker, but the two icrathari shrugged, apparently no more clued in than she was. She looked back at Tera. The icrathari warlord known as Ashra’s Blade was the epitome of calm understatement. If she was so insistent, she must have had a reason.
Ashra knelt beside the human. Without flinching, she placed her hand against his muscled abdomen. It was bloody, his flesh ripped by a vampire’s talons.
The man tensed at her touch, and his eyes flared wide with agony when her soul-sucking powers leeched into him. His breath came hard and fast, his chest heaving with the effort as he twisted in Tera’s unyielding grip, trying to break free.
Ashra’s eyes narrowed. The human was weakened—tapped into his life source, she waded through his dazed thoughts and shivered from the echo of each spasm of pain that wracked his body—but still, he fought Tera on the physical plane and Ashra on the psychic dimension, denying her access to his memories and to his soul.
She frowned and slammed her will against his, tearing an anguished scream from his throat, but still, his will did not crumble.
Askance, Ashra looked at Tera. “Did you taste him?”
Tera nodded. “It wasn’t hard the first time; he didn’t know what to expect, but apparently, he does now and is doing a fine job of fighting back.”
Was that grudging respect she heard in Tera’s voice? “Does his soul really matter?”
The icrathari nodded again.
Ashra’s shoulders shifted with the motion of a silent sigh. His resistance left her with little choice. She leaned forward and glided her lips over his in a whisper of a kiss.
Human myths spoke of succubi and incubi—demons that, with a touch, could stir lust in their unwilling victims. All myths were based in reality. The maddening beauty and soul-sucking powers of the icrathari had spawned the legends of succubi and incubi. With a touch, the icrathari could lure their victims into a state of sexual ecstasy, bending the will and baring the soul.
The human tensed against Ashra, resisting the intimate contact. She almost recoiled. Had the centuries dulled her innate powers? Surely she had not forgotten how to lure a man.
She closed her eyes and remembered love.
As always, Rohkeus’s fine-featured face—those beautiful gold-flecked green eyes, so unusual for an icrathari, and teasing smile—came to the fore. With a dreamy half-smile, she deepened the kiss, driving the memory of love before her like a sharpened stake.
At last, the man relaxed, succumbing to the kiss. She leaned into him, heedless of his crimson blood staining her white gown. He was warm, feverish even. Just skimming over six feet, he had more than twelve inches on her, but his physical strength, compared to hers, was puny. She was well aged; over four millennia old, she was the oldest of the icrathari and the strongest. She could have broken his neck with as little effort as a human child snapping a twig.
Her hand trailed across his muscled torso. He made it easy for her to be gentle. His body trembled as if he longed for her. His mouth was hungry for her kiss. He arched up against her, as if craving more. His need was like a living creature, wild and aching for her touch.
Eyes closed, Ashra shivered. Only one other person had desired her as much.
And he was dead.
She forced her way through the memories of pale bodies tangled upon cool silk sheets. When her soul-sucking power leeched out, it found no opposition. Images of the human’s life rewound in a blaze of vivid sights, sounds, and sensations.
Ashra looked up at Tera, her smile little more than a barely perceptible curve of her lips. “He fancies himself the protector of the child of prophecy. Was she among those taken tonight?”
Tera nodded.
Ashra chuckled, the sound without humor. “It’s a pity her genetic heritage wasn’t sufficiently superior to prevent her from being culled.”
“There’s more. Go deep.”
She pushed past the blackness at the start of his memories, expecting deeper darkness. Instead, the colors shifted into shades of ochre and gray. Memories, older than his body, resided in his soul; memories of an Earth long since lost to them—a planet surrounded and nourished by water; images of tall buildings glistening beneath a benevolent sun, and of thriving cities filled with the bustle of humans; memories of quiet and intimate conversations beneath a silver moon, the same silver moon that now graced Malum Turris with its light, though a thousand years older and viewed only from beneath the protection of the dome.
She saw herself as he must have seen her, a much-younger icrathari, still hopeful for the future, never realizing that the Earth they had all known and loved was irretrievably lost. Had she ever looked that vulnerable? Had her smile ever been so beautiful, so filled with love as she looked upon—
“Rohkeus?” Oh, blessed Creator, was that stricken whisper her voice?

Merry Christmas, my friends (or Happy Holidays - whatever your beliefs, I wish you well)! Once the presents are unwrapped and the kids happily playing in the destroyed house of wrapping paper and boxes, what's a mother to do? Read, of course!
I no longer have small children, so Christmas is a different sort of holiday for me than all that, although I will spend the early day with my Kindle and then in the evening play cards with the family while cooking a ham and joking around, only to read again before bedtime.
Whatever your Christmas traditions are, I decided to make Always & Forever free for a few weeks so that those of you who haven't already read it can check out the first book I published. Here's the book description and links to vendors:

#BookReview ~ Forbidden Trouble ~ Travis Casey
Title: Forbidden Trouble (Tyler's Trouble Trilogy Book 3)
Author: Travis Casey
Genre: Romance/Adult Humor
My rating: 5 stars
**********
Powerful women are his weakness. Trouble is his strength
***********
Tyler Chambers doesn't have to look for trouble, it finds him. He is not happy when his assignment is switched from living a carefree life sailing around the South Pacific to working in a stressful environment in the cold, wet climate of Scotland.
The last thing he wants is responsibility, but his efforts to avoid it wind up impressing his boss, Naval officer Darcy Novak - and she does not impress easily. Tyler is seduced by her position of power and changes his tactics, aching for her attention.
As she gives him more responsibility, the relationship edges to being more than just professional. But they must fight their feelings as their personal affection for one another is forbidden by Navy regulations.
Quality Assurance Inspector and co-worker Charlotte Kemp doesn't have the same code of ethics and uses her professional power for her own personal pleasure. When her lust goes too far, Tyler's world is thrown into chaos, forcing him into some tough choices and a web of lies.
Wanting the wrong woman turns out to be more trouble than Tyler bargained for. His work life fixing submarines is hectic, but he must also fight forbidden desires while shunning a man eater.
My Review:
Wonderful conclusion to Tyler's Trouble Trilogy. I have to admit, I'm going to really miss Tyler and all the trouble he gets himself into. I have loved this series throughout, eagerly reading each book as quickly as possible. Tyler is on point with his usual antics in this book, but he also has some unique challenges and finally a leading lady to give him a run for his money. Will Tyler finally settle down or is he forever destined to be the drunken sailor who makes us laugh? And laugh I did. This last book in the series had some of the funniest scenes of all! I loved the dynamics and humor between Tyler and his fellow shipmates, especially the women. It was also great to see the more tender side of Tyler as he interacts with sexy Darcy Novak and struggles to be a man worthy of her attentions. Another great book by Travis Casey! I'm sad to see Tyler's story come to an end, but I'm anxious to see what Travis Casey has in store for us next!
Although this is the finale of the trilogy, I believe it could be read as a stand alone without too much confusion. That said, I highly recommend Travis' first two books as well. If you are into adult/naughty humor, a bad boy with trouble to spare, and want to experience a romance story from a male writer's point of view, I'd pick this one up! Another fantastic book!
Happy reading! Have a great week!!

DAUGHTERS: THE GOOD AND THE BAD Blog Tour ~ Nonnie Jules
Today, I have Nonnie Jules here, author and blogger, to talk a little about her writing journey and her new release. So I'll turn the time over to her. Welcome, Nonnie!
I'm here today to tell you that you, too can be a multi-genre author. I penned my first book, a parenting guide called "THE GOOD MOMMIES' GUIDE TO RAISING (ALMOST) PERFECT DAUGHTERS", 100 Tips On Raising Daughters Everyone Can't Help But Love! in May of 2013. At the time, I had already begun working on my first novel as well as having a children's book sitting on the back burner.
When I first began on social media, I initially came across a bunch of naysayers who told me that it would be frowned upon if I decided to write from several different genres. If you've ever stopped by my blog WATCH NONNIE WRITE! then you've heard me speak about how I got rid of those zeros (naysayers) in my writing world and then was blessed enough to happen upon a bunch of heroes (positive, encouraging, supporters).
I didn't understand why it would be frowned upon that I wanted to become a multi-genre author. But, even the naysayers have explanations for everything. It was explained to me that if you write from a plethora of genres, then you will appear to be a "Jack of All Trades, Master of None." That may very well be true for some, but not all of us fall under that tiny umbrella.
I proudly proclaim that I am an expert in the parenting department of girls. Why? Because I've raised two very exceptional ones. Now, although I think some of the tips that are used in my parenting guide could be used for boys, since I'm not a mother to one, I wouldn't don the same title of "Expert" in regards to them.
I recently penned my first novel, "Daydream's Daughter, Nightmare's Friend." Yes, writing it was much different than writing a book of tips, but, if I can say so myself, I think I did a pretty good job of it. I also write poetry and since it is how my writing began, I know that I am very good in that area. Now we move over onto the topic of children's books. I've had one waiting in the wings for quite sometime now, and although it's been sitting idle, not because it was hard to pen, but because of illustrator issues, I think I will fair very well there, too.
Don't let anyone put you into a box. Yes, Suze Orman writes about financial matters and as far as I know, that's all she writes about and that's OK. She's found her niche and she sticks to it. J.K. Rowling had been successful writing the Harry Potter series but it was very sad to me that when she decided she wanted to try her hand in another arena/genre, she felt she had to do it under a pseudonym. I would bet my next hamburger that the reasons just mentioned above, are why she did. People wanted to keep her in that Harry Potter kind of box, but she wanted to be set free and spread her proverbial wings in other areas/genres. So, if you love many areas of writing, go on and try your hand in as many as you feel comfortable, and should you find one that you favor over all others, then let that be your 'calling'. But, on the flip side of that coin, should you feel comfortable and you are producing good work in many different genres, then run with that, too. If you're going to label me, I prefer "Mrs. of all Trades and Master of All,", (that is, the ones I know I'm good at). Does that sound better to you? It sure does to me!
I hope you all have enjoyed your time here today with me and I also hope that you will stop by the links below and check out my books as well as the trailers to both. If you're on social media, feel free to connect with me on Twitter @nonniejules and on Facebook via the same name.

#NewRelease ~ Mellifica: Wait For Me ~ Melissa Mayberry
Two great books are now available from Melissa Mayberry. These mature YA romances depict a coming of age tale based on a true story. Read on for the blurbs and excerpts for both books. They are on sale for a limited time for only 99 cents! Don't miss this!
No one understands the obsession Melissa Quinn has with Arien Hart.
He’s different—misunderstood. The more her friends warn her of Arien’s questionable character, the more Melissa refuses to listen. Enchanted by Arien’s charisma, she plunges into an impassioned relationship, leaving her boyfriend, Sandy Bavetta.
Melissa is blind to Arien’s faults, so Sandy has no choice but to leave it to fate.
When Arien's love destroys Melissa, Sandy fights for his girl before the consequences are devastating.
Excerpt
from Book 1 Chapter 1:
The party fell
quiet while we waited. A blue Dodge Caravan stopped at the edge of the beach. Oh yeah, Chad said he’d come. Even
though the van was a brand new 1992 model, my cousin looked like a dork driving
a minivan. “It’s okay. It’s my
cousin, but keep the liquor in your bag, Shanna.”
“Aww, is Chad some
kind of nark?” she asked.
I nodded. “Most
likely.”
Chad stepped out,
but to my surprise the passenger door opened too. Why would he bring a date to
my birthday party? Asshole. It’d be better without him here, and definitely
better without one of those girls he hung out with.
A stranger stepped
out of the van, and his eyes fell right to mine. From a distance, he didn’t
appear to be the geeky type of friend Chad always made. He wore a loose black
tank top with Khaki shorts. His clothes seemed pretty normal, especially
compared to Chad’s; my cousin wore a Henley tucked into his cargo shorts. The
strange guy stared, and I couldn’t turn away.
He came over with Chad, king of the geeks. Where did he get the confidence to stare at
me? They walked closer, and even though the beach was dim, his onyx eyes
struck me intensely. My chest tightened, and my heart raced. As if this guy
gave him confidence, Chad walked a little straighter than usual.
“Hello, Melissa.
Happy birthday,” Chad said.
I nodded, glanced
at Chad for a second and then back to his guest.
“Oh, this is
Arien, my best friend.” Chad gestured toward his tall, muscular friend. “And
this is Melissa, my cousin.”
Arien nodded.
“Hey.”
When did Chad get a best friend? I would
have seen him before. Something
wasn’t right about this guy or his sudden appearance.
Sandy wrapped both
arms around me and leaned closer to my ear. “Want to go for a walk?”
Sandy’s voice
startled me. This suspicious stranger had my brain working overtime. “Um, I do, but Chad just got here. I can’t be
rude.” I turned to the new arrivals. “Food and drinks are on the table. Get a
plate and come back to join us.”
Why haven’t I met this guy? They
returned from the table. Both had soda, but neither was eating. Chad turned
toward the river where some people still played. “Who’s here?”
I
didn’t pay attention to Chad.
“Melissa, I asked
you a question,” Chad said louder.
“Hmm?”
Everyone turned to
me as I dropped my stare from Arien. A flame went through my body, and I wanted
to run to the river’s edge. Arien smirked. He had been staring back, as if he
had a chance with me. Huge ego—he must be
Chad’s best friend.
I had to play the
situation off as mere curiosity, so I squared my shoulders and cleared my
throat. “So, Arien, if you and Chad are best friends, why haven’t we met?”
He looked at me
and raised an eyebrow. “I guess we just missed each other.” The warm gaze in his eyes made me think his
words carried a double meaning. His wavy blond hair caught the sea breeze, and
the firelight danced across his face.
I leaned against
Sandy to ensure we all understood this stranger didn’t have a chance with me.

Mellifica: Devastating First Love was an enthralling and
inspiring piece of work. I found myself avoiding normal daily duties, just so
that I could curl up with my kindle and find out what happened next! The main
character, Mel, takes us on a journey of love, lust, pain, hope and
devastation. She is strong-willed and passionate which only adds to the agony
of seeing her dragged into a relationship that leaves her hollow. The author is
truly a talent. The story itself is so raw and real and Mayberry delivers it
with such vulnerability that one can't help but be completely swept away …
Truly a superb book. Well done Melissa and thank you for a great read.
Truly a superb book. Well done Melissa and thank you for a great read.
And now, newly released, the continuation of Mellifica is available!
Mellifica: Wait for Me - Book 2:
Caught in a war between her past and her future, one wrong step and Melissa Quinn loses everything.
Melissa Quinn found her happiness in the arms of Sandy Bavetta, but her ex, Arien Hart returns to Gloucester with a vengeance. Armed with Sandy’s family secret and an unlikely ally, Arien bombards Melissa with doubt, playing a game to divide and conquer.
No one knows her weaknesses like Arien. No one sees her strengths like Sandy.
Will she survive this battle of the heart?
Excerpt Book 2:
Arien’s version of
how everything was supposed to be was worse than the apocalypse. “Things are
exactly how they are supposed to be,” I said. “Now, get out.” My voice broke,
as I continued. “I don’t love you. I loathe you. You ruined my life.”
Hot tears trickled
to his palm when he touched my face.
“Honey Bee,” he
whispered. “I know. I’m so sorry. Let me make it right again, please. You’re
everything to me.”
Sobs bubbled from
my lips. Maybe I did come here because I missed him. Had the last month been a
façade? Sandy was so perfect. Too perfect. Too good for me. Sandy didn’t
deserve a girlfriend that would meet her ex boyfriend in a secluded cemetery. I
was notorious for screwing up. The right thing never looked obvious to me.
Trouble stalked me as easy prey.
“Aw, Honey Bee,
don’t cry.” Arien put his other hand on my cheek, tilted my face towards him
and leaned forward. Pure instinct and adrenaline poured through my veins.
Surprise sparked in his eyes when I leaned back and swiftly met his cheek with
my palm.

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY
In a series of ironic events,
Mellifica presented to Melissa Mayberry in such a way that she had to dust off
her writing skills and put the story to paper. The story soon became her
passion and rekindled her love of writing.

Shunned by a family that doesn't understand him, demigod Lenka Tahile aka "Swindle" is a complete loner and he likes it that way. Then he meets the hero, Ace Remedy, the brother of an infamous demigod Prince, and his life goes from bad to worse. Ace is loud, rude, and disruptive to his peaceful existence in every way. He's also hilarious and daring, and Swindle ends up finding a friend just when he thought he'd never have another.
But little does he know, becoming friends with Ace was all part of the Fates' plan. Now his past is slowly coming back to haunt him and there's nothing he can do to stop it. Nothing but try not to bring to light the lost love, the failed hopes, and the cursed existence that he would kill to keep in the dark.
Five Facts about Hero, Cursed
1. Lenka Tahile is a South African name. The MC was born in South Africa.
2. "Swindle" is Lenka's celestial name. He is a son of Hermes. Figure it out.
3. The hawk on the cover is not a tattoo. His name is Bill and he's Swindle's Fauna Morph, an animal that morphs into a weapon on command.
4. Though it isn't showcased on the cover, Swindle has extremely curly hair. Out of control, I tell you.
5. Just like Solar, Defeated, this novella switches back and forth between the present and the past, and reveals what life was like for Swindle before the Oracle of Delphi came along.
The Oracle of Delphi fantasy series is her first series. She is also the author of Mythos: Stories from Olympus, a companion series, and there is another fantasy series in the works. Star include, Mythos: Gods and Lovers series, the Love & Steampunk series, the Purr, Inc. stories, and more.
