~~EXCERPT~~
Kally waved and started back down the rise then hesitated, “Hey,” She called, “There’s something here.”
Brett’s head snapped up and he said, “Leave it.” When he turned back to face her, Kally was gone. Brett shot Jake a panicked look and they headed up the hill. “Kally, stay with the group. Whatever it is, it’s not worth the effort.”
Jake glanced back at Mia and said, “Stay here with Dan. We’ll be right back.”
When they reached the top of the rise Kally was near the bottom of the ravine leaning over gazing down at a patch of pink snow in front of her. Jake started down the hill and Brett grabbed his arm. Once glance at Brett pale expression and Jake froze. He turned back to Kally as she rose slowly and stared into the brush directly in front of her.
“Don’t move,” Brett said loudly as a cougar stepped out of the shadows.
Jake’s eyes opened wide. A mixture of fear and awe ran through him at the site of the big cat. It was nearly twice the size of Charlie, Beth’s Golden Retriever. Its massive claws were as large as a man’s hand. It snarled at Kally revealing large canines capable of ripping Kally’s neck open with one bite.
Jake glanced around for anything to use as a weapon as he yelled at Kally, “Don’t run Kally! Hold your ground! Raise your arms and scream at it!”
Kally was frozen with fear and didn’t react.
Jake ran down the hill, struggling in the deep snow to reach her quickly. He began to wave his arms and yell, “Get away from her! Get out of here! Scat! Go on! Yell, Kally yell at it. Show it you aren’t its prey.”
Brett rushed down the hill after Jake following his lead. When they neared the cat growled and leapt forward. Kally screamed, “Get away! Go on! Get out of here! I’m not your dinner!”
Jake and Brett stopped a few yards behind her. Brett said loudly as he moved to her left, “Back away from it, but don’t turn around.”
It was too late, the cougar attacked. Jake dashed toward Kally screaming, “Don’t let it get you on the ground! Protect your face! It will go for your head!”

Author bio:
I have one of those brains that won't turn off at night. Many nights I would distract my intellect by revamping a movie, book or TV show in my mind. I would twist and turn the plots and characters to achieve the ending I preferred. That developed into side stories about my favorite minor characters. Each night I fell asleep in the middle of a grand adventure. It wasn't long before I began to create stories of my own and put pen to paper.
I love a good adventure. I love a good romance. As the mother of seven children, I also learned to love to play video games. One day it occurred to me to write an adventure that flowed like a video game and I added a touch of romance. Thus, Hypnotic Journey was born. The HJ characters are like a family to me. They are foolish, daring, resourceful, passionate and dedicated to their friends.
My love for Science Fiction gave birth to the Treborel Series. It’s a paranormal Sci-Fi romance featuring a psychotic villain and a multiple layer of hero's fighting to survive the chaos.
I write about how friendship and love can carry you through situations that you might not otherwise survive. You will find my stories exciting and steamy, but I am not an erotic writer. My stories fade to dark when the steam begins to rise, but take it from me, the steam does rise and emotions do soar.
